Date: Circa 1920

History:

The ‘crimping machine’ probably dates from the early decades of the 20th century and was used to cut out the scalloped-shaped edging in the material. Multiple layers of material were placed under the ‘teeth’ of the machine and the handle, attached to a large mechanical wheel, was turned, which moved the trimming tool down to cut material and up to release it.
